    ABOUT MODERNDADS.NET

This website is designed for individual men and women, schools, and organizations, to use as a resource for practical parenting solutions, useful information, and also as a springboard for discussion about the public policy and private decisions dads, moms and families face on a daily basis in negotiating the complexities of parenting in the 21st century.

    CHALLENGE OR OPPORTUNITY?

The job description of dads today has changed dramatically. As women have moved into the workforce, many dads – some by choice, others by necessity – have begun to be more active at home. No longer able to rely on the traditional roles, ‘man the breadwinner/woman the caretaker,’ modern dads have both the challenge and opportunity to redefine fatherhood for generations to come.

Despite having no map to follow, millions of dads (with the support of those that care about them) are forging ahead with the courage and commitment to provide our children with the care and love we think we're capable of and we're certain they need.

    WHAT IS A MODERN DAD?

    He is a dad who:

    1. Sees the changing role of dads today as opportunity (versus wanting to return to the inequalities and stereotypical gender roles of the past)
    2. Tries new/different approaches to fathering (versus refusing to change or grow)
    3. Envisions and builds the kind of relationship he wants with his kids, while clearly understanding the legacies he carries (versus being a reactive parent with little insight into his own past)
    • Are you a modern dad?
    • Are the men in your life modern dads?
