ACTION - Create A Council of Dads

* April 28: Bruce Feiler, who feared that his cancer would leave his twin daughters fatherless, discusses his emotional decision to recruit a 'Council of Dads' - a team of godfathers - to help raise them.

* Watched a profile of this dad and his new book on Today Show, made me think about what my own council of dads would look like...yours?

I just read about this the other day. It brought a tear to my eye as I thought about facing that prospect. And I too thought about who I'd ask to be a part of my council of dads. But like many men I know, I don't have a deep circle of friends, so it is a question that takes some mulling over. I do have a group of men who I sit with every week. I've been a part of their circle for over two years, and I have learned volumes about fathering from them. I think every father should have a council of dads to call upon, and not just to step in if something happens. I think we need to be more supportive and involved in the "fahterhood" of men who are important to us. The challenge for me is to act on the thought, to take action.

Thanks for the post John,

-Brian
